The social and productive alliance in Maria la Baja Colombia, contrasts between findings and the discourse of local development.
Abstract
What have been the implications of the social and productive alliance of Maria la Baja for palm oil production in terms of local development of the municipality? It is from this question, that the article focuses its attention on the trajectory of a palm oil producing territory, and the state policies aimed at promoting this activity. By signaling the convergence of natural and social conditions unique to the territory, through agricultural policies defined by a central state in response to factor conditions that favor the cultivation of palm oil, justified by a discourse of territorial clustering of productive actors, the article concludes that the discourse does not suit the reality of the territory.
